Derval O'Rourke ran a great opening race of her outdoor season to equal the Irish record in the women's 100metres at the Bupa Cork City Sports at the Mardyke today but still came second to England's Sarah Claxton.

The World Indoor 60m hurdles champion clocked a time of 12.96seconds but was narrowly beaten to the line by Claxton.

Paul Hession enjoyed success by winning the men's 200m in a time of 20.78s while Deirdre Ryan won the women's high jump, she clearing 1.88m.

Elsewhere Alastair Cragg competed in the men's 1,500m and finished third with a time of three minutes 40.71s. Kenya's Lavin Rotich won the race.
