Ireland's Derval O'Rourke failed to qualify for the women's 60m hurdles final at the European Indoor Championships in Madrid today.
The Leevale athlete ran in the first semi-final and finished sixth in a time of 8.09 seconds. Sweden's Jenny Kallur won the semi in 7.93.
O'Rourke hit the third last hurdle and was limping after the race. She underwent an x-ray at a local hospital and fortunately the scans showed no serious damage to her ankle.
She had set a new national record of 8.02 seconds in yesterday's heat when she finished second behind Kallur.
O'Rourke's run brought to an end Irish involvement in the championships which finish this evening.
Last night, Irish pair Alistair Cragg and David Gillick won gold in the 3000m and 400m respectively.
