Legends Darragh O'Se and Henry Shefflin were today named the Vodafone All Stars Players of the Month for April by virtue of their performances during the closing stages of the National Leagues.
Kerry footballer O'Se, who will line out for the Kingdom in the Championship next Sunday against Waterford, has been playing for the county for more than a decade. During that time the 29-year-old has won three-All-Ireland senior medals, two under-21 medals and three National Leagues. He was also selected as a Vodafone All Star in 2000 and 2002.
Kilkenny hurler Shefflin, 27, played only managed to play in the semi-final and final of the National League after recovering from injury. However, he made a huge impact in both games, scoring 1-3 against Tipperary and a massive 2-6 (2-3 from play) in the final against Limerick.
His list of achievements is also lengthy with three All-Ireland senior medals, three league medals, one All-Ireland under-21, two Fitzgibbon Cup medals, an All-Ireland Colleges medal with St Kierans in 1996. He was also chosen as Hurler of the Year in 2002 and selected five times as a Vodafone All Star, in 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005.
"Both Darragh and Henry have become household names throughout Ireland because of their talent and their extraordinary commitment and dedication to making the best of that talent for the good of their teammates. They are deserving winners of this award," said GAA Nickey Brennan.
