Páidí Ó Sé is in line for a swift return to football with Westmeath just days after his reluctant resignation as Kerry manager, it was reported this morning.
According to today's Irish Examiner, it is believed officials from Westmeath contacted Ó Sé immediately after his resignation from the Kingdom hot-seat and are now at an advanced stage of negotiations with the Ventry publican.
When Ó Sé resigned last Tuesday, the 48-year-old said he would return to football management at some stage, but few would have expected the turnaround to be this quick.
If Ó Sé has been offered the job, and then decides to take up the new challenge, he will replace Luke Dempsey, who quit the post last August after the Westmeath players and officials passed a motion of no confidence in him after three years at the helm.
Tom Cribbin's name has also been linked with the vacant post in recent days. It is believed the former Laois supremo has already been for an interview for the job.
