Athletics : Sonia O'Sullivan has been included in the Australia squad for next month's Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

Athletics: Sonia O'Sullivan has been included in the Australia squad for next month's Commonwealth Games in Melbourne.

The host-nation will field 107 athletes for the Games, which run from March 15th-26th, 21 more than the previous largest team that represented Australia at the Auckland Commonwealth Games in 1990.

O'Sullivan, who gained Australian citizenship less than a fortnight ago, makes the team having achieved the qualifying standard in Sydney over the weekend.

The Cork athlete, a 5,000 metres Olympic silver-medallist, now holds dual nationality and plans to run for Ireland at the European Championships in the summer.

Craig Mottram and Jana Pittman are Australia's best-known athletes in the team. Mottram finished third in the 5,000 metres at last year's world championships. He will compete in the same event and the 1,500m in Melbourne.

Pittman won the 400m hurdles at the 2003 world championships in Paris and is the reigning champion in the same event at the Commonwealth Games.
