GERMANY: Oasis lead singer Liam Gallagher could face up to two years in prison after becoming involved in a bar brawl in which he lost two of his front teeth.
The singer is being investigated after allegedly assaulting a German policeman in the bust-up in a smart Munich hotel at the weekend.
The band's management had said he and four members of the band's entourage were caught up in an unprovoked attack on Saturday night.
However, German police said that the Oasis camp had been involved in a scuffle among themselves which escalated. Two of the band's shows in Germany have been postponed because of the incident, at the Bayerischer Hof hotel.
Gallagher's facial injuries could curtail his ability to sing for some time, and the possibility of a custodial sentence could affect the band's future.
A statement issued on behalf of Oasis said: "Several members of Oasis and their entourage were the victims of an unprovoked attack by a group of youths.
"Liam Gallagher sustained facial injuries, including several broken teeth, while two of the group's security guards were forced to seek hospital treatment, one after being knocked unconscious. The attackers left the scene before police arrived."
However, police gave a different story. They said that according to a witness, an altercation broke out between members of the Oasis group.
Three band members and two of their security entourage were arrested.
