Two Cambridgeshire police officers involved in the murder investigation of 10-year-olds Jessica Chapman and Holly Wells have appeared in court charged with possession of child pornography.

Detective constable Brian Stevens, 41, and Antony Goodridge, 34, were remanded in custody on Saturday following an appeal from prosecutors against a decision by Bury St Edmunds magistrates to grant them conditional bail.

All the charges are linked to the "possession of indecent images of children" said a spokeswoman for West Midlands police, who are conducting the investigation.

The officers, who have been formally suspended from duty until the case is over, will appear at either Bury St Edmunds or Ipswich Crown Court early next week for the prosecutors' appeal, the police spokeswoman told Reuters.
