Prison officers in the North have threatened to take illegal strike action in a demand for wider trade union rights. The spokesman for the Prison Officers' Association, Mr Finlay Spratt, said the killing of the LVF leader, Billy Wright, in the Maze prison could have been prevented if officers had been able to take industrial action over security lapses.
