New investigations are to be carried out after a rogue butchery business operating from a flat in County Tyrone was shut down, it emerged tonight.
Environmental Health officers in Cookstown discovered slabs of pork from illegally slaughtered pigs after going to an address on Killymoon Road.
Meat was found stored in a bedroom and a converted coalhouse.
The authorities were granted permission to close the makeshift plant after seeking a court order, councillors have been told.
But even though those who had been living at the property were issued with a warning, fears have been expressed that further operations may be taking place in the area.
One of those on the council's policy and resource services committee, which was informed of the action, said: "Further investigations are to be conducted.
"One councillor reported that the illegal activity may be continuing and we've got to do all we can to prevent that."
A further report is due to go to a full meeting of the council in early December.
