"Is that really you? I can't believe it?" the 61 year-old Iranian woman said. "Yes it is, but why can't you believe it? You are simply talking to your humble servant. Your President's importance is derived directly from you, the people," Mr Khatami responded.
The caller was participating in a national telephone call-in to the Iranian President, broadcast on state-run radio yesterday afternoon.
