AFTER a break of six years, Deputy Tom Kitt is back at serious running. In common with his party leader Bertie Ahern, who jogs for 30 minutes four or five mornings a week from 6.30 a.m., Kitt is out most mornings in his local Marlay Park running to the rhythm of Morning Ireland. Bertie has lost two stone as a result and says he is now so fighting fit he can take on anyone in Dail Eireann over five miles.

For Kitt though, who had little time for it when he was a junior Minister at Foreign Affairs and travel led the world at alarming speed, it is more than a hobby and slimming device. Already a veteran of five Dublin marathons and one Berlin marathon, the FF deputy for Dublin South is entering the 100th Boston marathon on April 15th and he's doing it for Cerebral Palsy Ireland. Sponsors are being sought by the CPI in Sandymount.
