Athens - One person died and another was injured when a bomb exploded outside a hotel in Athens yesterday after an anonymous caller gave a warning, police said.

The device which went off outside the Intercontinental hotel, which belongs to a US chain, on Athens' large Syngrou avenue at 11.37 p.m. The hotel was to host a three-day congress organised by the British magazine, the Economist, today to be attended by economic and political leaders from Britain, Greece, the United States and other countries.

An anonymous caller, claiming to speak for the Greek terrorist group Revolutionary Cells, had warned three Greek media about 15 minutes earlier that a bomb would explode outside the hotel.
