One person died and another was injured when a liquified nitrogen plant at a Pakistani nuclear science teaching institute burst this afternoon, officials said.
The plant is located in a laboratory at the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences, (PIEAS) in Nilore, some 25 kilometers from Islamabad.
Nilore is also the site of Pakistan's vital nuclear facility.
An official statement said PIEAS is an educational institution of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) and "the incident has nothing to do with any nuclear facility of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC)."
