Taxback.com will offer new positions in accounting, marketing and sales at its operations in Cork, Dublin and Kilkenny.

Junior minister John McGuinness announced the investment, which will almost double the workforce in Ireland over the next two years.

“By creating 100 Irish jobs over next 24 months, the Taxback group is showing us the way forward, reminding us to have confidence in ourselves and again stressing the importance of competitiveness,” the Carlow/Kilkenny TD said.

“We can either view our current financial woes as an anchor or a propeller. We can lie down or stand up and fight.”

Mr McGuinness highlighted initiatives needed to kick-start the economy including competitiveness, an educated workforce, reduced red tape, effective corporate governance, small business supports and aggressive overseas marketing.

Taxback.com provides online income tax services for overseas workers and local services and accountancy expertise for people in their home country.

It has 500 staff in 18 offices around the world and files more than 120,000 tax returns every year.

Yesterday, 50 jobs were announced for the Shannon region. Specialist US tool cutting firm, SGS Tools, is setting up a new division, Melcut Cutting Tools, in the region’s enterprise zone.
