On the same night, over in the Powerscourt Townhouse Centre, the Design Centre was holding its Wella spring-summer fashion show, the other fashion show of the week. "It's great that we were first," said Aisling Kilduff, manager of the Design Centre. Among the designers who were there to show their work were Deirdre Fitzgerald and her assistant, Liselotte Keogh, Ciaran Sweeney, Miriam Mone, Mary Gregory, Lyn Mar - almost all of whom used only cream, white, ecru, and black. The ahhh factor came from the 11 boys and girls of the Sylvia Behan School of Ballet, who performed a short dance before the finale. Among them was Claire Henry (12), from Churchtown, who said afterwards: "I might like to be a vet someday but I want to dance for a long time first."
Afterwards, guests went on to eat oysters and sushi at Erik Robson's new venture, the Ely Wine Bar, which opened in December. The evening in Ely Place was part of a fund-raiser for Cystic Fibrosis, at which Larry Warren, chief executive of Cystic Fibrosis, spoke movingly.
