Rawalpindi - The ousted Pakistani prime minister, Mr Nawaz Sharif, is being investigated for several matters including loan default, tax evasion and attempting to stop an aircraft carrying the army chief, Gen Pervez Musharraf, from landing, a military spokesman said yesterday.
Mr Sharif, who is still under protective custody, was being "treated well", Brig Rashid Qureshi said. No charges have been laid against him so far, while investigations continue, he said.
In London, Ms Benazir Bhutto said yesterday she wants to return to the country, where she faces a jail sentence, and become prime minister again.
