Robin Hood's bow and arrows and the tree he hid in are just two of the lots due to go under the hammer to raise money for charity. As well as the bow and the Major Oak in Sherwood Forest the auction, to be held in Nottingham next month, will also see Nottingham Castle up for grabs.

All the lots have been donated for a mock auction being staged to find Britain's top young auctioneers. Organised by the Society for Valuers and Auctioneers, previous years have seen youngsters sell off Old Trafford, Hyde Park and even Buckingham Palace.

The sale, now in its 47th year, will take place in Nottingham on September 23rd when young auctioneers from across Britain will come to do battle with the gavel.

Lot one will include Nottingham Castle. Lot two is the Major Oak, reputed to have been the tree where Robin Hood and his merry men held secret meetings.
