MORE than £20,000 was stolen on Friday from the Brink's Allied security company premises on the Galvone Industrial Estate, Limerick, gardai have confirmed.

Details of the raid emerged only yesterday. Apart from the cash, the thieves also took gift vouchers for Todds department store for which the money had been collected the previous evening.

Last evening, gardai in Limerick asked for help in trying to trace the gang. The thieves cut their way into the high security premises and the discovery was made at 4.40 a.m. on Friday by security men.

It was disclosed that while there was general security in the area, no guard had been placed on the premises.

Gardai said it was not "a highly sophisticated robbery" one said it seems those who it carried out were somewhat lucky.
