New Delhi - Special "oxygen chambers" are being set up at busy intersections in the highly polluted western Indian port city of Bombay, to provide much-needed fresh air to traffic policemen who suffer from respiratory ailments, Rahul Bedi writes.
Officials said over the next few months, policemen directing traffic in crowded areas would be able to inhale oxygen during their six-hour shifts.
At least 16 traffic policemen died last year from respiratory-related diseases.
