BRITAIN: Completing the London marathon will take British charity fundraiser Mr Lloyd Scott six days, but progress is painfully slow when you're wearing an antique diving suit.
The other 32,000 competitors finished on Sunday, but Mr Scott, a father-of-three, from Essex, does not mind being the slowest entrant. In what is the latest in a series of madcap ventures, his aim is to raise £100,000 for a British leukaemia charity.
Mr Scott reckons he has enough stamina to last the course. His rubberised canvas suit weighs 130 lbs, and the helmet alone, which has had its glass removed, weighs 40 lbs. By late yesterday, Mr Scott had completed 15 miles of the 26.2 mile course. He was diagnosed with leukaemia in 1989, but has since recovered. - (AFP)
