A 13-year-old Palestinian boy was seriously wounded when an Israeli tank opened fire on a group of young stone-throwers in Nablus, according to Palestinian medical sources.
Clashes take place almost daily between Palestinians and troops in the northern West Bank city, reoccupied by the Israeli army since June. The city has been severed into two parts, which are alternately placed under curfew.
Elsewhere, two militants of the secular, hardline Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) were arrested by the Israeli army near the southern West Bank town of Bethlehem.
The arrest took place in the village of Hussan, an area under Israeli military control and Palestinian civil administration.
An army spokesman said: "The two were arrested over suspicions of involvement in terror attacks and taken away for further questioning".
The PFLP has claimed several anti-Israeli attacks since the beginning of the 25-month long Palestinian uprising, including the assassination of an Israeli minister in October 2001 in revenge for the murder of their leader.
