Palestinian gunmen attacked an Israeli car on a West Bank road today, killing one person and wounding another, a military source said.
The source did not identify the casualties but an Israeli spokesman said the man killed in the shooting was a Jewish settler and that his wife was wounded.
The attack occurred near the Jewish settlement of Shvut Rachel, east of the Palestinian city of Ramallah.
Israeli-Palestinian violence has surged since the collapse last week of a truce that Islamic militants had declared in a nearly three-year-old uprising for statehood.
The bloodshed has included a suicide bombing that killed 21 people in Jerusalem on August 19th and the deaths of eight members of the militant Hamas group in Israeli helicopter missile strikes.
