Palestinian gunmen shot and wounded an Israeli driver at a major traffic intersection in Jerusalem today, Israeli police said.
Palestinian gunmen in an overtaking vehicle sprayed the Israeli car with bullets, wounding the driver in the shoulder in the first so-called "drive-by" shooting by Palestinians inside Jerusalem since the renewed Palestinian uprising erupted five months ago.
The car was hit by at least five bullets from a Kalashnikov rifle.
Police said the gunmen escaped to the Palestinian-ruled West Bank town of Ramallah.
