US President Bill Clinton's special envoy Mr Dennis Ross has cancelled a Middle East peace mission planned for this week, a senior Palestinian official source said.
The official's comments appeared to signal a setback to Mr Clinton's hopes of breaking a deadlock in Israeli-Palestinian peace moves before he leaves office in 10 days.
There was no further explanation nor immediate further comment from any of the three sides.
The official Palestinian source said: "Arafat got a call from Clinton last night and both agreed to continue consultations and that Ross's trip was cancelled." Reuters
