The Parnell Summer School will discuss scandals and inquiries into the planning system, the "two regions" approach to EU aid and devolution in the North when it opens next weekend.
The week of lectures and symposiums in Parnell's former home of Avondale, Rathdrum, Co Wicklow, will be on the theme of "Community and Local Government". It commemorates the centenary of the coming into law of the Local Government (Ireland) Act in 1898.
The official opening on Sunday August 8th will be followed by a keynote lecture from Dr Tony Fahey of the ESRI. The week concludes with an address from Mr George Reid, deputy presiding officer of the new Scottish Parliament. Further information is available from 01287 4124
