South Africa 0 Uruguay 3:A goal in each half from Diego Forlan helped Uruguay to a comfortable victory over hosts South Africa who finished with 10 men after keeper Itumeleng Khune was sent off. The result leaves South Africa on the brink of elimination from the tournament with a victory against France next Tuesday now essential.
Forlan gave his team the lead against a disappointing South African side in the 24th minute with a wicked long range shot which powered into the roof of the net after taking a slight deflection.
Uruguay were awarded a penalty with 10 minutes to go when Khune brought down Luis Suarez and Forlan stepped up to hit another screamer into the roof of the net and
become the first player to score twice at the finals. Alvaro Pereira added a third with just seconds left.
Uruguay lead Group A with four points from two games with South Africa on one. France and Mexico, both on one point, meet each other in the same group in Polokwane tomorrow.
