The anti-abortion Pro-Life Alliance said last night it was determined to fight a decision by television broadcasters not to screen its party election broadcast featuring graphic footage of aborted foetuses.

The PLA - which is fielding 56 candidates in the election said it would seek a judicial review after the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 ruled the broadcast could not be shown in its current form on grounds of taste and decency.

The civil liberties group, Liberty, said last night it would provide lawyers to help the PLA challenge the legality of the broadcasters' decision.
