BRITAIN: Joe Pasquale was crowned 'King of the Jungle' last night after winning the reality ITV gameshow, I'm A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here!

The 43-year-old comic defeated butler Paul Burrell and nightclub boss Fran Cosgrave in the all-male final.

Cosgrave, a Dubliner, first came to the public's attention when he acted as bodyguard for pop group Westlife. He went on to open a number of clubs in London's West End.

Pasquale hugged and kissed the former evictees when the show's hosts, Ant and Dec, announced the public had voted him winner of the show, now in its fourth series.

The 43-year-old was one of the favourites to win. His self-deprecating sense of humour has provided some of the show's funniest moments, while the comic has also won the public's affection by steering clear of camp fights.

The son of a factory worker, Joe grew up in Essex in the Sixties. Pasquale got his big break in the TV talent show New Faces in 1987. He has been a well-known face on the light entertainment circuit ever since.

Pasquale's most memorable moments on the show include climbing down a rope ladder hanging from a helicopter 200ft above the sea in what was the most expensive trial.
