An All Nippon Airways (ANA) airplane from Paris to Tokyo made an emergency landing in eastern Russia after one passenger fell ill onboard and died later, officials said.
The Boeing 747-400 jumbo jet made the emergency landing in the Siberian city of Khabarovsk after a female passenger in her 50s fell ill, officials in Tokyo said. It is believed she died of a stroke.
"The death of the passenger was confirmed later," said Mr Takayuki Suzuki, an ANA spokesman said. "No other passengers were ill or had other problems."
Narita airport officials had earlier said several of the passengers onboard fell ill, but later corrected the number of ill people to one.
Interfax, quoting airport officials, also said from Moscow that the plane requested permission for an emergency landing in the far-eastern Russian city following the death of one passenger.
