Passengers stranded when the QE2 could not collect them at Cork are threatening legal action against the ship's owner, Cunard, to recover travel and accommodation costs. Some 54 passengers were left in Cork last Thursday when fog prevented the luxury liner from collecting them at Ringaskiddy terminal.

Cunard said it would pay for accommodation and meals for Friday and Saturday night but if passengers wanted to return to the US on the QE2, they would have to pay their own way to Southampton to meet the ship on August 24th.

Now eight passengers have hired a Cork solicitor, Ms Sinead Behan, of Martin Harvey & Co to initiate proceedings against Cunard for compensation for their disrupted holiday.
