A PAINTING by Paul Henry, the Belfast-born artist, was sold yesterday in Dublin at a record price of £104,000.

A PAINTING by Paul Henry, the Belfast-born artist, was sold yesterday in Dublin at a record price of £104,000.

The Potato Harvest, an oil painting measuring 18 ins by 20 ins, was knocked down to a Dublin art dealer at the James Adam salesroom in Dublin. The previous record for a Paul Henry was £70,000, paid for The Fairy Thorn at the same salesroom in 1990. Henry was born in Belfast in 1876 and died in 1958.

Meanwhile, at Christie's in London, a pair of Irish George III giltwood and gesso pier glasses, attributed to William Partridge of Dublin, were sold for £51,000.

The mirrors were included in a collection of furniture of Irish interest from the Rex Britcher Collection which was sold by Christie's.
