THE Progressive Democrats spokesman, Mr Bobby Molloy, has called on the Minister for Trade and Tourism, Mr Kenny, to clear up the confusion over plans to provide a major conference centre in Dublin.
Mr Molloy said Mr Kenny had already angered those groups who had tendered for the centre and were later told the process was being scrapped in favour of the RDS. Now it appeared the Minister had gone on another solo run.
A spokeswoman for Mr Kenny said the Carlton Convention Group had recently submitted an application to develop a centre in O'Connell Street on a joint venture basis with the Dublin City Business Association and Dublin Corporation. Its proposal did not include a casino.
Mr Kenny had asked Bord Failte to contact the organisations in the joint venture with a view to assessing the suitability of their proposal, she added. She said Bord Failte was also considering the RDS proposal.
