The PDs will be the first political party to unveil an election manifesto with a launch in Dublin tomorrow, writes Miriam Donohoe, Political Staff
The party has opted to publish its manifesto before the official announcement of polling day, as it did in the 2002 election.
The manifesto will outline the party's policies across areas such as the economy, health, crime and the environment.
On tax the manifesto will contain a promise to abolish stamp duty for first-time house buyers and to introduce bands to make the system fairer with immediate effect to ensure market stability.
The other key commitments of the PD economic manifesto include the reduction in the higher rate of income tax to 38 per cent and the lower rate to 18 per cent.
The tax bands will be widened so that a couple, both earning, can earn at least €100,000 and only pay income tax at the standard rate, while a single worker could earn €50,000 and only pay at the standard rate. A married couple with one earner could earn up to €59,000 and only pay tax at the standard rate.
The other parties are planning to launch their election manifestos within days of the election being called next week.
