Bogota - The Colombian High Commissioner for Peace, Mr Victor Ricardo, who led the peace process between the government and the country's leading Marxist guerrilla group, has resigned, President Andres Pastrana announced yesterday.
Mr Ricardo's resignation comes two days after President Pastrana agreed to demilitarise a large area in the north of the country to facilitate peace talks with the country's second largest group, the ELN. President Pastrana gave no reasons for the resignation.
