Four South African peacekeepers have been kidnapped in Sudan's Darfur region, their joint UN/African Union force said today.
"They have been abducted. We are doing all we can to make sure they are released unharmed," the spokesman of the joint UNAMID force Noureddine Mezni said, adding it was not known what group carried out the kidnapping.
The two men and two women were last seen leaving their base near the capital of South Darfur Nyala on Sunday afternoon, Mr Mezni said.
