The government of Bosnia's Muslim-Croat Federation urged international peacekeepers today to take control of Bosnian Croat barracks, some of which have been occupied by groups seeking self-rule for Croats.

It said any soldiers or police not wearing official insignia would henceforth be considered paramilitary forces and expressed concern that not all weapons and equipment belonging to the Croat contingent were under government control.

The government said it was worried about arms and military equipment which are not under the control of the legal federation institutions and urged SFOR to completely secure them.

The government insists that SFOR removes such formations from the military barracks and facilities, enters and secures them with full support from the federation government, the government said in a statement after a session.

SFOR was not immediately available for comment on the statement. It has previously acknowledged some self-rule supporters are in Croat barracks but said the government was in control. It also says it is monitoring weapons storage sites and that no weapons have fallen into the wrong hands.
