An elderly woman pedestrian has been killed after an accident involving a lorry in Charleville, Co Cork, this afternoon.
The woman, who is believed to have been in her 70s, died after she was struck by a lorry at about 2.45pm on the main street in Charleville.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, and was taken to Mallow General Hospital where a post mortem will be carried out.
Diversions are in place at the scene, and gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the accident to come forward.
AA Ireland said motorists should avoid the town or expect major delays.
