A pedestrian in her 50s was killed when she was struck by a lorry in Co Monaghan this afternoon.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene following the accident on Main Street in Castleblayney at about 12.50pm. Her body was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The driver of the lorry was not injured in the accident.

Main Street is currently closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators complete their examination, and diversions are in place.
