Singer George Michael (34) took to the Internet yesterday to answer questions from fans for the first time since being convicted of lewd conduct in a Beverly Hills toilet.

Up to 50,000 fans queued to ask questions of the singer on www.aegean.net from 10 p.m. Irish time. After his arrest in a public toilet in the Will Rogers Memorial Park in Beverly Hills, Michael used a television interview to issue an apology. "I put myself in an extremely stupid position, I won't deny that. I won't even say it was the first time it ever happened. I can only apologise," he told CNN in April.

A court case in which the former Saudi nurse Lucille McLauchlan (32) faces theft and fraud charges was yesterday adjourned at Dundee Sheriff Court for a further month.

The case was continued until August 13th and no plea was entered.

Sportcaster Marv Albert was rehired on Wednesday to comment on the National Basketball Association games of the New York Knicks, less than 10 months after pleading guilty to assault in a biting attack on a woman. Executives of Madison Square Garden (MSG), home of the Knicks, told a news conference Albert will do radio play-by-play of the Knicks and serve as a host of MSG SportsDesk starting in September. Albert told reporters that psychotherapy has had "a very positive impact on me" and that he would continue seeing a therapist.
