Bob Geldof made an on-air apology during his second day as a DJ on London station Xfm - after announcing that Ian Dury had died.

He made the announcement after receiving a phone message from a "distressed" caller saying Dury had died, which he took to be genuine. Geldof finished his slot with Dury's hit Reasons To Be Cheerful.

As soon as it became apparent the information was untrue, Geldof headed back into the studio to apologise.

Coronation Street producers have temporarily written Curly Watts out of the soap while actor Kevin Kennedy (36) is in a private hospital in Manchester after admitting himself 12 days ago to seek treatment in his battle with alcohol.
