US-Australian media magnate Rupert Murdoch (67) is to marry his 31-year-old mistress when his divorce from second wife Anna is complete, a British newspaper reported yesterday.
The Sunday Telegraph said Murdoch had told friends on a recent trip to London that he had decided to marry Wendy Leng, the Chinese-born television executive who has been his girlfriend for the past few months. Leng, vice-president of Murdoch's Asian satellite service Star TV, was not born when he married Anna 32 years ago. The couple had three children, Elisabeth (30), Lachlan (27) and James (26).
The Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, due in London tomorrow for a pre-Christmas shopping trip, is expected to be tackled by Foreign Office officials over his seizures of land from white farmers and a fresh decree forbidding trade unions from striking.
Mugabe is coming to Britain at the end of a five nation tour. When he embarked on this 16day trip on November 21st, many Zimbabweans were shocked that he would take such a lengthy journey while the country is in turmoil.
The new Miss World, Linor Abargil of Israel, suffered a sexual assault shortly before she was crowned, the British press reported yesterday.
Italian police confirmed Abargil (18) was attacked in Milan after attending a fashion show on October 6th. It said Abargil had gone to a travel agency to book a plane ticket to Rome. The agency's Egyptian owner told her all flights were booked and offered instead to drive her there himself. In the car he molested her then taped her mouth up. She was released two hours later.
