FILM star Gregory Peck was in a stable condition yesterday, following emergency surgery for a suspected intestinal ailment shortly after receiving a Czech movie award at the Karlovy Vary film festival on Saturday night. Hospital officials in the western Czech city of Carlsbad said Peck (80) had undergone abdominal surgery and should remain in hospital for about one week.
