TICKET sales for Steven Spielberg's dinosaur sequel The Lost World: Jurassic Park smashed box office records and paid back the $75 million cost of the film in just days, industry experts in Los Angeles said.

Universal Studios is expecting ticket sales totalling $84 million to $86 million between Friday, when the film opened, and Monday, a national holiday. Including preview showings on Thursday, ticket sales could soar to $89 million dollars.

The Lost World appears poised to break records set by the original Jurassic Park, which has made $916 million.

Actress Helen Mirren has beaten glamour girl Gillian Anderson to become the sexiest woman on TV. Twentyone per cent of voters polled by Radio Times magazine voted the Prime Suspect star as their favourite pin up.
