THE Princess of Wales yesterday denied accepting cash for charity appearances. She was responding to claims by the People newspaper that she demanded £200,000 for her charity fundraising appearance in Washington last week. It said she was also paid £180,000 for a visit to Chicago to raise funds.

A spokeswoman for Princess Diana said she "has never requested any payment, nor received any fee" for such work.
