At least 14 people, including two children, died and another 45 were injured when a bus ran off a road in the mountains of Peru today.
The bus was traveling from the jungle town of Satipo to the city of Huancayo, in the central Andes east of Lima.
"It happened in the early morning hours and it appears to have been human error because there was no rain or fog or dangerous curve. It seems the driver fell asleep," he said.
An eight-year-old girl, a month-old baby, and a woman who was eight months pregnant were among the dead on the bus, which was jammed with more than 60 passengers.
