Members of the North's security forces were attacked in Belfast this evening after they were called out to deal with a suspicious package in the west of the city.
A crowd threw petrol bombs, bottles and stones at members of the PSNI and British army bomb disposal experts on the Falls Road.
The security alert, which lasted almost two hours, was later declared a hoax.
A PSNI spokeswoman said no one was injured in the incident, which happened at the junction with Beechmount Avenue, but a number of vehicles sustained minor damage.
