The Minister for Health, Mr Martin, has directed that the Mid-Western Health Board reconsider its refusal to allow a pharmacy to be built in the Moyross area of Limerick, writes Eibhir Mulqueen.

Mr Martin had decided that a public health need existed, a spokesman said, and had asked the health board chief executive, Mr Stiofan de Burca, to look again at the application by Mr Philip O'Connor of Drumcollogher, Co Limerick.

The Labour TD, Ms Jan O'Sullivan, welcomed the decision, saying a pharmacy was badly needed for the suburb of 5,000 people.
