Mobile communications group 3 has announced the launch of search engine Google on its phone handsets.
The company said the agreement means 3 customers can now access Google on 3G handsets, enabling them to search the internet free of charge.
The agreement is part of a wider internet campaign by 3, which sees Google available on its handsets alongside Yahoo! and Windows Live Messenger.
The Google search facility will sit on 3's mobile internet homepage and will enable both pay monthly and 3Pay customers access to unlimited Google searches for free.
Customers who wish to click through to websites revealed in their search results will, however, need a mobile broadband add-on to view it when they move outside the free search area.
The company has also launched a range of broadband add-ons for its service.
Head of marketing at 3, Susan Branchflower said: "Our agreement with Google demonstrates our commitment to bring the best internet experience to mobile users. 3's mobile broadband services give customers quick and easy access to the internet on the go at great value and on Ireland's fastest network."
