Bord Failte must be in seventh heaven. No less a figure than Italy's former President Francesco Cossiga has devoted a chapter of his book La Passione e la Politica, published in Italy next week, to his love of Ireland. He describes Dublin as austere but pleasant, convivial and fantastic; admires our history and our struggle for freeedom, our literature, landscape, our climate, in fact everything about us. He writes in gushing praise of our island nation, where he hopes to retire. The Irish Times features page next Wednesday will carry an extract from the chapter which should make us all feel good. And incidentally, Cossiga is an old pal of John Bruton. Does the FG leader feel the same? Quidnunc thinks we should be told.
