LONDON - The Trafalgar Square pigeon "rustler" was revealed last night to be a job less teenager who claimed he had sold the birds for 20p a piece. Interviewed in the Sun, Jason Lidbury defended his actions, saying the birds were vermin.
He claimed that over six months he had caught at least 1,500 pigeons, 30 at a time, by scooping them into a 2ft by 1ft aluminium box after luring them with seed. He then handed the birds over to a mystery buyer whom Lidbury, from Stockwell, South London, assumed sold them on to unscrupulous restaurants.
